What About ME? Part 2

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)

Last month’s blog contained two questions:

  1. “What About Me?” - asked by you &

  2. “What About You?”- you hearing Jesus answer your question in a snarky / sarcastic voice

If you did not get or read last month’s blog, you can view it HERE:

I talked about putting other’s first; actually considering other’s before ourselves.  It was a hard to swallow lesson about putting our own best interests on the back burner, along with that first question, and elevating the needs of others above ourselves.

This month, I would like to ask that first question again, but with a very different response.

The question: “What About Me?”

The answer: “It’s Finally About You!”

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)

  • The word “made” in the above verse means to accomplish, produce, prepare, attend, and put in order. It also means to press or to squeeze.

    • Everything that He wants to accomplish in you, all that He wants to see produced, prepared, attended to, and put in order by you, is beautiful.

    • A part of you knows this which is why you’ve been crying out to the Lord for those things, or that thing, for so long. You knew it would be good, but guess what? He knew it could be better!

    • That’s why you were pressed and squeezed in your time of waiting, being urged to make the sacrifice to serve others and consider them more important than yourself.

    • That pressure produced the gold in you that made you ready to receive what you had been longing for, for so long.

  • The word “beautiful”, means just that: beautiful.

    • What’s important about the word beautiful here is that it is the same word used to describe Queen Esther (Esther 2:7). Queen Esther was chosen because she was beautiful, replacing Queen Vashti, who was at the time, probably the most beautiful woman in the kingdom of Persia.

    • Her beauty got her in the palace, in front of the King, in favor with the King, and in a position to save her entire nation!

    • That beautiful thing, or things, that you’ve been crying out for, for so long, will also open up doors for you that no man can shut, and bring favor into your life.

    • That calling, that healing, that next season, that car, that house, and / or those finances that you waited so long for, that you ended up crying out in frustration to God, “what about me”, will be even better than you could have ever imagined.

  • The word “time” refers to one’s experiences. It’s from the Hebrew word that means, “continuing future.”

    • Whatever He wants produced from you, or accomplished, prepared, attended to, and put in order by during your partnership with Him on this earth, won’t just be things that are part of your life experience, but they will be things that will, in a way, last forever.

    • Our faithfulness to the things and ways of God on this earth, will be how our place in Heaven is determined. Not just whether we will actually get to Heaven or not (live with Him for eternity), but our actual level of reward in Heaven.

    • Perhaps that’s why we are urged to live out Philippians 2:2-5 (“In authentic humility put others first and view others as more important than yourselves. Possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests. Consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let His mindset become your motivation.”).

    • The Lord wants to make sure that we have the right heart motives when our time finally comes, because when your “time” comes, when He finally answers your, “what about me” question, the benefits to your faithfulness s are eternal!

Isn’t that amazing!
