Dream!

I mentioned to a few people that being stuck at home reminds me of what I imagine being in a cocoon would be like, so I looked up the things that go on in a cocoon. I won’t go through all the stages (breathe a sigh of relief), but the stage that caught my attention was the one that involved fluid break down (doesn’t sound pretty I know, but bear with me). You see, when the fluid breaks down the old caterpillar body, it breaks it down into cells called “imaginal cells” which can then become any type of cell.

The word imaginal means “relating to the imagination or a mental image.” Of course, this got Holy Spirit dialogue and my storytelling juices flowing! We are praying that this “season apart and at home” is short, but when it’s over, it will be a new day. The old fluids are breaking down and we now have these imaginal cells flowing throughout our lives. What will they become? I feel the Lord saying, “it’s up to you!” Use your imagination! Dream! Visualize the changes you want to happen, and then as a child of God, you can do what the caterpillar can’t. You can do something about what you become. Is it something as simple as learning to cook? Do it! Do you dream of being organized but have a basement full of files? Get busy! Are there songs in your head that need to be on paper? Pens are cheap, and only toilet paper is in short supply! That ministry online platform won’t build itself! Now is the perfect time to illustrate that children’s Bible story!

Can I be vulnerable, and make you laugh a little? I love weapons, especially swords! I have three of them (I won’t mention my machete and my knives), and they are just sitting in my closet. I want to use them! Relax! Not on people! I have always dreamed of being skilled with a sword. I have the swords and I have Youtube (did you know that EVERYTHING is on Youtube??). There are Youtube videos with sword exercises on them. Great! Like most women, I also “dream” about losing weight. Two birds with one stone. Thank you Jesus! Of course, I won’t be a Samurai anytime soon, but I’m visualizing changes that I want to make in my life, I’m dreaming, and I’m putting those things into action to the best of my ability. That’s all the Lord wants. Now, on a more practical note, there is also a book that I have been “finishing” for a while, and in this season of the imagination, I really have no excuse.

My point is, when the call comes to go back to work, when the restaurants open up, when school is back in session, when life is back to “normal”, things will be different. Will you have taken advantage of the imaginal cells flowing through life so that things are different for you? The caterpillar became a beautiful butterfly; proof that different can be amazing! I encourage you to get started today!
