I wanted to encourage you today from Jeremiah 29:11: It says, in the NIV, “I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord; plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future. The KJV uses the word “thoughts” instead of plans, and I kind of like that better. It’s good to know the Lord has plans for us, but what’s better, at least in my opinion, is to know that the Creator of the Universe, God Almighty, has thoughts about us, and that His thoughts are good! When I looked up the word “thoughts”, it’s the HEBREW word, MA HA SHA VAH, and it means purpose. Isn’t it wonderful to know that our God not only thinks good things about us; that His thoughts don’t just stay in His mind, but they manifest in our reality as purpose.
This means,
•You are not a mistake.
•You are not worthless.
•You are not pointless.
•You are not less -than.
God is putting His good thoughts about you to work and orchestrating a great purpose for your life.
One last thing before I finish. The root word for the word “thoughts”, in the HEBREW is HA SHAV, and it means to esteem and to invent. This is so awesome:
•You might think God is in heaven shaking His finger at you in disappointment , but our God is eternal. Meaning time means nothing to Him, so He’s looking at future you; esteeming you now because His plans for you are going to bring about a glorious you; even though you and those around you may not see it yet, God does.
•I love that the root word for thoughts also means to invent. You see, even when we don’t see a way toward our future greatness, when we think that no way even exists for us out of our present circumstances, we just need to remember who we’re dealing with; who’s on our side. It’s the Great Inventor Himself! He created all things and from His creation, He can invent your way out, invent your deliverance, invent your road to freedom.
So, please hear the Lord saying to you today that He knows the thoughts He has toward you; thoughts of good and not evil; to give you hope and a future.
